‘Spooky Season with a Pink Twist: Custom Halloween Doormat”

It’s that time again—spooky season! But if you're anything like me, you know that just because it’s Halloween doesn’t mean everything has to be traditional orange and black. I’m all about pink! I recently came across this adorable doormat at Joann and couldn’t wait to put my creative spin on it. After all, crafting is about making things your own {Amberfy them} and having fun.

It’s spooky season again! But who says Halloween has to be all orange and black? I’m all about pink!

I took the basic design of the mat, featuring a black cat, pumpkins, bats, and stars, and decided to give it a pink makeover. Instead of the typical orange pumpkins, I painted mine pink (of course)! The best part? I used glow-in-the-dark paint to really bring out the spooky magic. Here’s how I did it:

Here are the paints I used from Joann for my Halloween doormat:

1. DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint - Bright Pink

2. DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint - Soft Pink

3. DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint - Peachy Pink

4. DecoArt Glow in the Dark Paint

5. DecoArt Americana Enchanted - Purple Glow

- **Glow-in-the-Dark Touches**: I added purple glow-in-the-dark paint to the cat’s witch hat and bats, and yellow glow paint for the pumpkins' eyes, stars, and their mouths. The magic happens when the light hits the doormat—it activates the glow-in-the-dark paint. At night, the mat really shines, creating a fun and festive vibe for any porch.

My orange kitty loves to be in the middle of everything! Whether it's crafting, painting, or just hanging out, he's always right there, supervising every project.

- **Application Tips**: To get the best glow-in-the-dark effect, it’s important to apply **several coats** of paint. You’ll want to **really soak** the mat with each layer. I did several coats to get the look I was going for, making sure the glow would be strong. After painting, I let the mat sit in the **sun** or a well-lit area for a while, allowing the light to fully activate the paint.

To get the full glow-in-the-dark effect, make sure to really saturate your doormat with several coats of paint. The more layers, the brighter the glow! Let each coat dry and soak up the light for the best results.

To make it even more special, I got my granddaughters involved. Halloween crafting is a great way to bond with family, and the little ones loved being part of the process. Whether it was helping me pick out colors or adding their own creative touches, it’s a memory we’ll cherish.

Spooky season vibes! Showing off my finished doormat while rocking my pink boots and sipping from my favorite black cat cup, topped with whipped cream. Halloween with a touch of pink!

So, if you’re looking to add some flair to your Halloween decor, why not go for pink? Get the kids involved, add some glow-in-the-dark magic, and most importantly, have fun with it. Crafting is all about making things uniquely yours!

Check out the magic! My doormat is glowing in the dark just as I hoped. All the layers of glow-in-the-dark paint paid off—perfectly spooky with a fun twist!
